Patience, is it really a virtue?

Well, it is a fruit of the spirit right?
But, so is love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

Love, check.
Joy, check.
Peace, check.
Kindness, check.
Goodness, check.
Faithfulness, check.
Gentleness, check.
Self-control.....well.....in all things?...like chocolate?...and coffee?

It would be so much easier for me if it said joy is a virtue, or
kindness is a virtue, or love....that is virtuous.

Virtue is behavior showing high moral standards.
So, yeah, I guess patience could be called a virtue.

Or perhaps, patience without complaining.

That is virtuous.

I cringe though every time I hear someone pray for patience.
I feel like it is saying God, please test us and bring many experiences upon us that we have to learn patience from!

Those things happen easily enough without asking God to bring it upon us.

Waiting for cookies to bake
Slight patience
Waiting for a check in the mail
Depending on the size of the check, a good amount of patience
Waiting in long lines at Disneyland
Really patient
Waiting 9 months to have a baby
Unbelievably patient
Waiting for a bathroom stall to open
My legs may become permanently in a pretzel shape if a stall doesn't open soon type of patience

Clearly being patience is difficult.

So is self-control.
But the saying is not self-control is a virtue right?
And, I do believe that having chocolate and coffee may be considered high moral standards.

Especially if shared.

Ok, I've made myself incredibly focused on a highly caffeinated drink and craving that chocolate bar in the cupboard that has my name on it.

Literally, it has my name on it.
It was in my stocking.

I am of the belief that one could be considered virtuous if they endured their patience with coffee and chocolate, because the definition of virtuous is "good" with a halo on.
